The Lore
古 (ko) means "old" or "ancient." The character is composed of 十 (ten/cross) over 口 (mouth), symbolizing stories passed through ten generations — wisdom carried by word of mouth across time. In martial arts, 古流 (koryū) refers to old-school lineages: disciplines that predate modernization, preserved exactly as their founders designed them. We carry this spirit — honoring the foundational logic of computing, the physics of circuits, and the philosophy of systems thinking that all modern technology is built upon.
流 (ryū) means "flow," "current," or "school of thought." The left radical 氵represents water; the right component depicts movement and direction. Together they evoke a river — power channeled through natural form. In Japanese tradition, ryū designates a living school: a body of knowledge that flows from master to student without interruption. At Koryuai, this represents our approach to technology: not static knowledge, but a living current — always moving, adapting, and finding the path of least resistance to the most powerful outcome.
愛 (ai) means "love" — not romantic sentimentality, but deep devotion and care. The kanji contains 心 (kokoro/heart) at its center, surrounded by elements meaning "to receive" and "to walk gracefully." It speaks to love as an active practice: receiving knowledge with gratitude and carrying it forward with intention. The deliberate double-meaning with "AI" (artificial intelligence) is the thesis of the company: that the love of the old school and the power of artificial intelligence are not in conflict — they are the same current.
"Lover of the Old School."
Born in the analog dusk of the late 1980s, raised in the second and third wave tech booms. Koryuai is a philosophy as much as a company: the belief that understanding where technology came from — the history of binary logic, circuits, radio, the atom bomb, and the physical metal — is the key to mastering where it's going. Every tool we build carries the discipline of the old world and the power of the new.
Cybernetics expert, technology philosopher, and contributing author at Popular Mechanics. As a kid, Mattske cracked the code on what Hiroshi Yamauchi (RIP) originally intended Nintendo to mean — and it set him on a 35-year journey to create games and digital experiences as incredible as the ones he remembered. From early experiments on DOS and dial-up to building full-stack interactive applications, his obsession with complex logic, graphics, and interactivity has never wavered.
He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Temple University and his investigative work spans hypersonic weapons, AI warfare, and the geopolitical intersections of technology and power. In 2025, he began building software with AI assistance — what the industry called "vibe coding." Within months, intuition became engineering. Being self-taught in the age of AI is supposed to be a mark of shame, but Mattske wears it as a badge of pride — he's been fighting with and against AI his entire life. Now he ships production tools 3-8x faster than seasoned developers. Velocity engineering.
A lifelong technology enthusiast who has been writing HTML for over 20 years, Ten Kelly is the structural backbone of Koryuai. She brings deep proficiency across web integration tools, deployment architecture, and interface design — and is a certified Wix Partner whose branding expertise has shaped the identity of every venture under the Liberty Rose Studios umbrella. Her creative vision, heavily influenced by Japanese culture and design philosophy, is what originally inspired the company's name, identity, and aesthetic direction.
Ten Kelly is also a very capable gamer with a knack for finding bugs where worlds and objects collide — or fail to — everything from Mario Kart to Crash Bandicoot. She's an all-around muse for anything creative, and where Mattske attacks the frontier, Ten Kelly ensures the infrastructure holds and turns raw engineering into something people actually want to use.
This shared fascination with complex logic, graphics, and interactivity is what drove the duo to build Koryuai — a division of their holding company Liberty Rose Studios — to focus on tech development and all it makes possible. Their branding and marketing agency, Ten Kelly, operates alongside Koryuai as the creative and strategic arm, while Koryuai powers the technology, tools, and intelligence behind the scenes.
